Who runs this site
HowMuchBraces is an independent publisher of orthodontic cost data that treats no patients and sells no treatment. The work is narrow by design: we take published cost studies and turn them into figures for every state and brace type, then check each one against its named source. When a figure is an estimate rather than a measured price, the page says so. That independence and that sourcing are the whole value we offer.
Why This Site Exists
Braces prices are hard to pin down before a consultation. Quotes for the same treatment can vary by thousands of dollars from one office to the next. That leaves families guessing at one of the larger health costs they will face. HowMuchBraces exists to close that gap, with real price data published state by state so you can plan before the first appointment.
How We Get Our Numbers
Our prices are not guesses. The dataset is built from the Synchrony CareCredit Average Procedural Cost Study, carried out by ASQ360° Market Research across 2023 to 2024, which publishes averages for every state. FAIR Health data supports our insurance explanations.
The American Association of Orthodontists publishes guidance but no national fee, so we never print a dollar figure in the AAO’s name. State figures for ceramic and lingual braces are adjusted estimates, built from each state’s published metal braces level, and every page that uses one says so plainly.
Every cost page carries a Prices last checked stamp, currently October 2026. We recheck the figures whenever the study updates.
We Are Independent
HowMuchBraces is not a dental clinic and does not provide treatment. We are not affiliated with the AAO, CareCredit, Synchrony, or FAIR Health. Those names appear on this site only as the sources of published data. We give estimates for planning, never quotes.
